2022 Range Manager of the Year: Theresa Becchetti

Theresa Becchetti

UC Cooperative Extension Natural Resource and Livestock Advisor in Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties.

Theresa Becchetti has been involved with a Range and Natural Resource Camp for high school students for many years, recently she has served as co-Director and Director of the Camp. In 2019, increasing cost of insurance put range camp at risk and through Theresa’s leadership, the camp was moved from the professional society organizing it to UC ANR- UCCE. During the pandemic, she led the first ever virtual Range Camp and had twice as many students register for the online version than had previously attended in person. Theresa has also provided leadership for other range management education projects. She is a principal investigator on a Renewable Resources Extension Act (RREA) grant to develop curriculum on rangelands for high school students. Partnering with a high school teacher, the created curriculum will provide resources to support lectures for the classroom and hands on discovery and “field work.” The curriculum will be extended to high school Ag and Biology teachers in the state.
