About the California-Pacific Section

The Society for Range Management is a professional organization composed of individuals with a common interest in the study, management, and rational use of rangelands and related ecosystems

The Society Objectives

To properly take care of the basic rangeland resources of soil, plants and water

To develop an understanding of range ecosystems and of the principles applicable to the management of range resources

To assist all who work with range resources to keep abreast of new findings and techniques in the science and art of range management

To improve the effectiveness of range management to obtain from range resources the products and values necessary for the welfare of people

To create a public appreciation of the economic and social benefits to be obtained from the range environment

To promote professional development of its members

What We Do

Certified Rangeland Manager (CRM)

The California-Pacific Section of the Society for Range Management (Cal-Pac SRM) provides its professional certification program to promote professional standards in all rangeland activities, and to evaluate the education and professional experience of rangeland managers. We offer applications for both a Certified Rangeland Manager (certified through the Board of Forestry) or an Assistant Rangeland Manager.

Education & Student Leadership

Cal-Pac SRM provides many opportunities for education and student leadership. Cal-Pac hosts two meetings per year that highlight important topics in rangeland management. We also assist with the implementation of Range Camp for High School Students, as well as the High School Youth Forum. Be sure to learn more about our scholarship!

Membership & Community

Membership in Cal-Pac and SRM is open to anyone engaged in or interested in any aspect of the study, management, or use of rangelands. Educators, rangeland managers and consultants, ranchers and farmers and others are eligible for membership.
