The first edition of the section newsletter was published in April of 1953.
The Bay Area Chapter of the California Section held its first meeting at UCB.
The Council of the California Section proposed the following chapters: South Coast, North Coast, Northern California, San Joaquin Valley, Central California, and Southern California to join the already existing Bay Area Chapter.
Dr. Biswell reported that a curriculum in Range Management was adopted by the University of California. The curriculum requires that students spend one of their upper division years on the Davis Campus and the other one on the Berkeley Campus. In 1956 there were 6 undergraduates at Berkeley and 12 at Davis.
